So Google Street View for Toronto was released today. Pretty cool actually but equally as creepy. Creepy like that Google Latitudes feature on smartphones where, using GPS, you can track your friends like missing animals, children, or lost keys.

After looking at all the random things other people are searching for (http://www.blogto.com/tech/2009/10/google_street_view_now_live_in_toronto/) I decided to check out my house first, then to go hunting for my shoe.

So here it is... there's no "CSI" enhance button so whatever, blame Google.

Looks like my shoe is about to jump. It wants off soon! Probably will take a nice windy day or a big storm to push it off that light. I mean it has been how long since I kicked it up there? Clearly it doesn't want anything to do with the elements anymore. This summer seems like as good as any to make the leap.

If it falls and causes an accident can you kindly not reference this site? Thanks...

I think my shoe decided it wanted to be seen by more people, so it grabbed onto some wind and booked it to the middle. Normally I don't really go check to see if it's there, but on my way home I looked for it from the ground. I didn't see it tucked underneath the light so I figured the people who put up the fake Bay facade saw it and removed it. As you can see, that was not the case. My shoe and I are awesome.

Walking to my streetcar stop I just happened to glance up and what do I see? The latest in athletic performance footwear of course. I bet you Adidas thought of some really awesome way to market the fact that each shoe is a different colour.

Could go something like "Never get confused which shoe goes on what foot ever again!" or "When you forget how to walk, just pick a colour to start!".

You might be wondering why anyone would want to hang these shoes off a pedestrian traffic light. I bet they went with Nike-Bloch instead.

Sometimes people tell me my shoe isn't on the skywalk anymore, or that they can't see it. Hhhmmm maybe you should do what my mom told me to do when I was a kid and gave up too easily when trying to look for something, "Use your EYES"! She's really good at stating the obvious, as you can tell.

In the blind's defense, nobody uses that skywalk ever. The only reason I even visit that tunnel of safety glass is to take photos like this.

Here we see the rare shoe bearing species of tree known as Eastern Shoe Pine, from the Pinus Genus of the Family of Pinaceae, Order of Pinales. It's about that time of the year when shoes are ripe for picking. It's exactly what that song says "Good things groooowwwwwww in OOOOntario!" Fills me with pride every time I hear it.

So somewhere along the way to "who the hell knows where" in Ontario, there are shoes hanging off power lines. There better be something wrong with all of those shoes, like holes at the toes or they smell really bad because some of them I'd actually wear.

Look at those spiffy brown ones. I could wear those to work! Those white ones look pretty keen too. The next time you see me wearing nice brown shoes, you won't have to ask me where I got them from.

Well it's been awhile since my last post, I've been pretty busy being awesome. So here comes a pic from Brian all the way from Brussels. Since I don't know the story of this shoe I'll make it up.

In 1830, during the Belgian Revolution, rebels decided to confuse law enforcers by throwing their shoes (tied together by the laces) on top of banner poles. This was a symbol which represented their feelings in honour of Auber's opera La Muette de Portici.

Reunited once again... as I walk underneath my shoe but this time I was caught on camera. Suz was nice enough to take a photo of me with my shoe on our way to buy NEW shoes. Suz got some brand new Lacoste kicks (which I just found out today she returned them), but I didn't buy any. What's nice about this photo is that I don't look like a dork, and not at all awkward as Suz is trying to figure out how to take photos with her BB while I just stand there watching other people change walking speeds also trying to figure out what Suz is doing. Like I said earlier, totally not awkward...

Here's another pic submitted by Brian. This time it's not taken from his pet satellite, but his camera phone. This is actually a pretty good photo as it gets the side profile and the sole. If you look closely you can see the back right heel of the shoe is worn down. Now that the weather is nicer it's time to hit the patios. Increase in alcohol consumption may lead to another shoe on the skywalk... anyone?

I found the original box that the shoes came in! I was using it to store random crap like old bills and random hard drives. So for the curious and preservation, I'm posting the style and make of the shoe that's on top of the skywalk. (You probably weren't curious)

Looks like my shoe was caught napping in the afternoon. It must take after it's owner. Just lazy... Speaking of naps, I really could use one. What happened to afternoon naps? They kind of just stopped after kindergarten. An idea as good as naps in the afternoon shouldn't stop after that. We all know the benefits of napping, I think this is a lost cause. Oh well, now I'm just jealous.

"Goodyear" rubber lasts awhile

Not sure if it's actually made out of REAL Goodyear rubber, but the shoe's rubber sole was definitely one of the more durable soles that I've ever experienced. I tend to drag my heel when I walk so my normal shoes always tend to wear at odd angles. I notice it more when I stand still and I can tilt backwards without shifting my weight. I have white and gold Nike shox that show the wear perfectly since they are made extremely cheap.

A little bit of history

The resting place of my shoe is the end result of a drunken night (about a year ago) of shoe toss (drunk game we play where you let the shoe sit on your foot loosely and proceed to kick it as far as possible), and thinking we could clear the overpass from the street... my shoe hit the side first and the second attempt I decided to add more loft... yeah...

If anyone wants to know what happened to the other shoe it may or may not be still on top of the Weston's bakery roof. I'm sure it's gone by now, the workers usually take their smoke breaks on the roof.

So now that I'm starting my photo blog about my shoe, this is the third pic that I took just recently. The plan is to actually take nice digital SLR photos of it during each season or under different weather and maybe frame it and put it up. Taken from the same angle... blah blah blah. Now I'm just brainstorming ahead of myself but who knows what this will turn into. If anyone passes underneath my shoe take a pic, send it to me by email, I'll post it up here. I can't keep an eye on it all the time! ;)

So I got this brilliant thought the other day as I passed under the Bay-Eaton Centre skywalk on my way home on the TTC that I would create this blog about my shoe. Why would anyone want to make a blog about a shoe that they own? Well the sole reason I did it, is because my shoe is not in my personal possession anymore. Where is it you ask? On top of the skywalk... and so begins the ongoing photo journal of my lonely shoe. (I say lonely because I don't think another shoe will join it in the near future)
